My name is Alyssa Austin – and I’m so glad you’re here!
I created Poised & Professional back in 2016 as a way to empower and educate my fellow female professionals on how to find success and fulfillment in the workplace. I was in the midst of a successful marketing career, but the thing that I always really loved about my work was the opportunity to lead and mentor others.
2016 was a big year for me – not only did I start Poised & Professional, but it was also the year I began working as the Senior Marketing Manager for a guy named Brian Tracy – an expert on goal-setting, personal growth, sales and business success, and the author of over 70 books! He was basically one of the O.G. personal development leaders.
For 2 years, I worked alongside Brian as the head of his marketing team – building programs, maintaining crazy 6-figure monthly revenue goals, and also learning EXACTLY what it took to build a business.
In 2018, I had been running Poised & Professional for 2 years, and my life had reached a tipping point.
I was trying to do ALL the things: working at my 40-50 hour/week marketing job, starting my own business, pursuing the beginning of a professional acting career, planning my wedding, and – you know – just trying to maintain some semblance of a social life and spend time with my family.
And in September 2018, as I sat through the final days of my honeymoon, I was filled with a sense of dread to head back to my corporate job.
And it wasn’t the normal “Sunday Scaries” (or “Honeymoon Scaries,” if that’s a thing!)
It was something that totally and completely changed my life from that point forward.
I realized… that I had to make the leap.
My vision was so focused on a future of impact and fulfillment that I couldn’t go BACK to the person I was before. I had stepped into a NEW version of myself that I was falling in love with, and my old workplace and lifestyle didn’t fit that new version of myself and my life. Everything in my body and my heart was telling me that NOW was the time – and I felt a powerful calling to go all-in with my business.
So, after navigating a host of positions, companies and industries, and building a successful marketing career for myself over the course of almost 8 years – I quit my steady 9-5 to pursue my purpose – inspiring others to go after their dreams (the same way I did!). I obtained a life coaching certification in 2019, and have worked with countless clients to help them find clarity on what they really want in life, create a clear path toward that vision, and cultivate a positive mindset backed with proven accountability tactics to expedite and ensure their progress.
Over the last year, I’ve built my business to:
- 1000+ email subscribers
- 3,000+ website visitors per month
- $5,000-$9,000 revenue months (and I know 5 figures are coming!)
- 150+ clients and counting*… many of whose experiences working with me you can read about right here

Throughout all aspects of my career and even in my work as an actor (another one of my passions!), I’ve had the opportunity to work with other professionally-minded and motivated women, who are all looking for the same thing: success, respect, and fulfillment.
At the end of the day, we all want to create lives and careers that we love. And my goal in life is to help other women find, create and then flourish in their version of purposeful living – to inspire and equip confident female creators who are hungry for meaning and want to make an impact on the world around them for the better.
